Community Alliance for the Performing Arts Fund (CAPA)
Scholarship funds in the amount of $1500 were awarded for the development of CAPA’s “Boys in the Performing Arts” program to recruit, provide funding for training, and promote young men in the performing arts.
Williamsburg Redevelopment and Housing Authority (WHRA)
WHRA seeks to provide programs and/or educational trips for the children living in their housing for low income residents of the City of Williamsburg. Thirty-five children, age ten and up, will attend the Spring Break Educational Tour on April 9, 2009 to Washington DC. They will visit the National Zoo, the National Air and Space Museum, and the African American Art Museum. A grant of $1800 was awarded.
Our 2008 Donations:
YoungLife Capernaum
YoungLife Capernaum is a program of YoungLife especially for kids and adults with disabilities. Capernaum provides a social outlet designed with them primarily in mind and celebrates their abilities, contributions, and giftedness. A grant in the amount of $1800 was awarded toward the costs of sending disabled kids and their leaders to a five-day summer camp offering challenges such as a zipline and high ropes course among the fun activities.
James City County Parks & Recreation - Recreation & Youth Services
In addition to offering recreational activities, the JCC Parks & Recreation Division provides services to at risk youth and their families through the Kids Quest (elementary age) and STRIVE (ages 11 - high school completion) Programs. As part of the 2008 Global and National Youth Service Day, middle school youth from STRIVE and other after-school programs participated in a multi-dimensional community service project at Freedom Park which focused on improving historical interpretation at the Park. Activities also included orienteering and health/wellness lessons, and youth gained hands-on building experience, as well as socialization and communication skills. A grant of $1550 was awarded to support this project.
Baeplex Family Martial Arts Center
Baeplex believes that being a Martial Artist is about becoming the best that you can be in every way. Scholarships to an Area Championship Meet and a Summer Martial Arts Program for seven students were funded in the amount of $1225..
The Youth Aeronautics Educational Foundation
The vision of the Youth Aeronautics Educational Foundation is to use aviation as a tool to motivate at-risk youth toward science, math and engineering. Students in the program (ages 14-17) are first enrolled in the Ground Training portion of Flight School and then move on to Flight Training. Their educational paths during their high school years are monitored. By the time they graduate from high school, they will have met the necessary requirements to take and pass the FAA Private Pilot Aeronautical Knowledge Test. A grant of $1045 was awarded to offset the costs of maps, charts, and headsets.

Virginia Legacy Soccer Club
The Williamsburg Community Partnership Program provides assistance to deserving children in our community who would otherwise not be able to participate in the Club's sports education program. A grant of $2500 was awarded to sponsor two children on the travel team for the 2007-2008 season.
Our 2006 Donations:
Williamsburg-James City County Community Action Agency
The W-JCC Community Action Agency administers many programs with the purpose of assisting low-income families and individuals. Among those programs are the HOPEE Tutorial Program and Project Discovery (drop-out prevention) for youth ages 11-18. A grant of $2400 was awarded to take youth in these programs on field trips during the 2006-2007 school year.
Network for Latino People, a program of Child Development Resources (CDR)
The Network for Latino People provides assistance to Spanish-speaking immigrants by directing them towards necessary resources. Our whole community benefits when basic needs such as medical care and education are met efficiently. A grant of $2900 was awarded to send two medical interpreters to be trained as Medical Interpreter Trainers.
SpiritWorks Foundation Center for the Soul
The mission of SpiritWorks is to support, educate, and empower individuals, families, and friends living in recovery from addictions. A grant of $3500 was awarded to support the start of their Children's Recovery Program (CFAR).
Our 2005 Donations
Avalon - A Center for Women and Children
Avalon provides shelter and support for battered women and children. Received $2000 for their Youth Program.
Rita Welsh Adult Literacy Program
The Rita Welsh Adult Literacy Program provides one-to-one tutoring in basic reading, math, GED preparation, and English as a Second language to adults in the greater Williamsburg area. Received $1100.
Our 2004 Donations
Comprehensive Health Investment Project (CHIP) of Greater Williamsburg, a program of Child Development Resources (CDR)
The program’s purpose is to improve the health of young children in low-income families. Received $2000 toward their Spanish-speaking parents' group.
City of Williamsburg’s Youth Achievement Program
The program's goal is to promote a safe and stable family environment and to help each participant advance in both academics and responsible citizenship. Received $1000 to help over 50 kids celebrate the holiday season.
